Mary Chase is a master K-12 performing arts teacher having directed dance programs in the US at McCallum Fine Arts Academy, the College of Southern Maryland, Merrill International School, and Joy of Motion Dance Center. Additionally, she has held positions at renowned organizations like the American Ballet Theatre, Progress Village Performing Arts School, Kansas State University, Austin Peay State University, Coppin State University, Eastern University, and the University of Tampa. She holds a graduate degree from The University of Texas at Austin, is a Jingui Golden Shield Qi Gong student, and is a Certified Laban Movement Analyst and Bartenieff Fundamentals Practitioner from the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies in New York City.
Her company C H A S E D A N C E creates site-specific multi-media collaborations captivating audiences on stages in twenty-two US states and internationally in Europe, Asia, North and South America, and now in the Middle East. Every place Chase lives and works she strives to create opportunities to grow toward cultural inclusion as a compassionate global citizen and artist. Bridging art-making with contemplative practice is paramount to Chase’s artistic vision and teaching ethos. In Abu Dhabi, Mary co-leads the Performance Co/Lab at Warehouse 421 with Carlos Páez González and is working with Purring Tiger/ NYU Abu Dhabi on the multi-disciplinary work MUJO.
